Agency States They Were Unaware of Trademark Registration for FIFTY FIFTY's Korean Group Name and Member Names

FIFTY FIFTY has registered the trademark rights for their Korean group name and stage names.

According to the patent information search service KIPRIS on the 6th, the Korean group name of FIFTY FIFTY(피프티피프티) and the names of the group members Aran, Keena, Saena, and Sio were filed for trademark registration on the 19th. It is speculated that the person who registered the trademark rights is a family member of the members. The reason for such speculation is that the name of the applicant is known to be the same as the names of the FIFTY FIFTY members' parents.

They have filed a total of 12 trademarks, including categories such as cosmetics and toiletries, household or kitchen utensils and containers, communication services, leather and imitation leather, advertising services, and non-alcoholic beverages, under the names of members Aran (Jeong Eun-a), Keena (Song Ja-kyung), Saena (Jeong Se-hyun), and Sio (Jeong Ji-ho).

However, ATTRAKT stated that they were not aware of the fact that FIFTY FIFTY members had individually registered their trademark rights. Therefore, it appears that the members registered the trademarks without going through the agency.

The date when the trademark application for the Korean group name of FIFTY FIFTY was filed coincides with the day when the FIFTY FIFTY members filed for an injunction to suspend the effectiveness of the exclusive contract against their agency, Attract, in the Seoul Central District Court.

FIFTY FIFTY claimed that Attract had violated the contract, causing a breach of trust, and filed for an injunction to suspend the effectiveness of the exclusive contract against their agency in the Seoul Central District Court. They argued that Attract had failed to fulfill their contractual obligations, such as carrying out opaque settlements and proceeding with activities despite their difficult health conditions. They emphasized that the filing for the injunction to suspend the effectiveness of the exclusive contract was a decision made by the four members independently without any external intervention.

Regarding this matter, Attract's side stated, "The members have done nothing wrong. We also want to reach an agreement as soon as possible through discussion." However, they added, "But we don't have any opportunity to contact them. We cannot receive any response even through the representative. The essence of this case lies in the hidden forces behind the young artists."

Meanwhile, FIFTY FIFTY is a four-member girl group that made their debut with the album 'THE FIFTY' in November of last year. They consist of members Saena, Keena, Aran, Sio.

FIFTY FIFTY made a remarkable achievement in the music industry by entering the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the 100th spot within the shortest period of time in Korean history, just about 130 days after their debut on March 28th (Korean time).
