EXO-CBX has notified SM Entertainment of their termination of exclusive contract
Big Planet Made Entertainmnet has expressed their position on the matter
In the ongoing dispute over the exclusive contracts of EXO's sub-unit, EXO-CBX(Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin), Big Planet Made Entertainment (hereafter referred to as Big Planet) has stepped forward to clarify its stance. The company vehemently denied any involvement in the matter and refuted the claims made against them.
On June 1st, Big Planet officially released a statement, stating, "The reported content related to our company today is not true. Big Planet Made Entertainment has never met the mentioned artists nor discussed or expressed any opinions regarding any exclusive contracts."
Furthermore, regarding MC Mong, who is known as an internal director within the company, Big Planet clarified, "Our current internal director has no affiliation with our company, and he has no involvement whatsoever in any positions, responsibilities, or operations."
Big Planet emphasized, "It is true that we recently received a certificate of contents from SM under the name of the CEO. We express regret for any intentions that associate unrelated headquarters with the internal contractual situation of other entertainment companies and state that we will respond strongly with legal action if such claims continue."
Earlier, the members of EXO's sub-unit, EXO-CBX, had notified SM Entertainment of their intention to terminate their exclusive contract through their legal representatives. They claimed, "We have sent multiple requests for content certification to SM but have not received any settlement data. Furthermore, SM has forced us into long-term contracts exceeding 12-13 years, resembling slave contracts."
In response, SM Entertainment stated, "During a time when our company is preparing for a new leap forward, external forces have been identified approaching our artists with false information and incorrect legal assessments, disregarding our exclusive contracts and making unreasonable proposals to sign contracts with them. These actions by external forces aim to create conflicts between our company and the artists, and we will not overlook their motives driven solely by greed for money. We will take all necessary legal measures."
This is in response to SM's notification of the existence of external forces that are causing discord between the company and its artists. The controversy intensified when it was revealed that SM had sent a proof of content letter to Big Planet, indicating a contentious situation.
