미국 하와이가 3일째 화산 폭발과 지진, 용암 피해를 겪고 있다.
지난 4일(이하 현지 시각) 미국 하와이 제도에서 가장 큰 하와이 섬 킬라우에아 화산 주변에 진도 6.0 강진이 발생했다. 지진으로 분화구 바닥이 내려앉으면서 많은 용암이 쏟아지고 있다.
하와이 소방본부는 용암이 도심을 향해 흘러내리는 것을 막기 위해 길목을 차단하고 있다.
5일 하와이 지역 신문 '호놀룰루 스타-애드버타이저'는 "새로운 용암 분출구가 열려 더 많은 용암이 흘러내리고 있다. 각별한 주의가 요망된다"라고 보도했다.
매체는 "대부분 관광지는 화산과 거리가 멀어 피해가 없지만 소방본부는 만약의 상황에 대비해 용암이 흐르는 길목을 차단하고 있다"라고 전했다.
트위터에서도 '하와이 화산 폭발(Hawaii Vocano)'라는 검색어로 수많은 제보가 쏟아지고 있다.
