“Kim Soo-hyun’s Reputation at Stake: Late Kim Sae-ron’s Family Lawyer Reported to Anti-Corruption Commission”

It has come to light that Bu Ji-seok, the attorney representing the bereaved family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron, has been reported to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of Korea.

On April 29, a complainant identified as Mr. A submitted a report to the commission, accusing Attorney Bu of engaging in illegal activities that go beyond legal counsel.

Mr. A alleged that in the process of representing the family, Bu either gave misleading legal advice or acted as an accomplice by directly participating in unlawful conduct.

Previously, actor Kim Soo-hyun’s agency had filed a criminal complaint against the late Kim Sae-ron’s family, the operator of a YouTube channel, and a person identified as Ms. B—who claims to be Kim Sae-ron’s aunt—on charges related to the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, including illegal distribution of images taken via camera devices.

Mr. A claimed, “Attorney Bu not only provided counsel but actively disseminated the family’s claims, using his status as a lawyer to make false information appear credible.” He added, “He abused the trust and responsibility of a legal expert, making his actions highly condemnable.”

Mr. A also stated that Bu’s use of provocative terms like “grooming sex crime” in press conferences caused irreversible damage to Kim Soo-hyun’s reputation, resulting in real-world harm such as image deterioration, production setbacks for upcoming projects, and potential lawsuits for damages.

Meanwhile, the family of Kim Sae-ron held an emergency press conference on the 7th of last month, where they revealed alleged evidence that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor. They also announced plans for legal action against the spread of false and defamatory information about the family.

In response, Kim Soo-hyun also held a press conference, stating, “I did not have a relationship with the deceased while she was a minor. The claims that my rejection and my agency’s pressure over her debt led to her tragic decision are also false.”
