With Season 1 already making waves across 70 countries, the highly anticipated sequel ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ is set to premiere April 25 at 4PM KST, exclusively on Netflix.

Netflix’s Weak Hero Class 2 is poised to make a massive comeback, and global fans are counting down the days. The sequel picks up with Yeon Si-eun (played by Park Ji-hoon)—a once quiet top student turned reluctant fighter—who now transfers to Eunjang High School, determined never to lose a friend again. But that conviction leads him into an even more brutal world of violence, loyalty, and survival.

This season tells a story of fierce growth and raw emotion—set against the harsh realities of high school gangs and personal trauma.

From Surprise Hit to Global Sensation

Weak Hero Class 1, based on the popular Naver webtoon, premiered on Netflix in March and quickly rose to prominence. Starring Park Ji-hoon, Choi Hyun-wook, Hong Kyung, Lee Yeon, and Shin Seung-ho, it captured attention for its gripping school-action drama, emotional complexity, and intense performances.

During its 2022 debut, Class 1 topped Netflix’s Non-English Global Top 10 for four straight weeks and ranked in the Top 10 across 70 countries—a testament to its binge-worthy storytelling and international appeal.

Even major media outlets like TIME and Marie Claire hailed it as “one of the best Korean dramas”, further fueling excitement for Season 2.

A Rare Format: Season 2 Follows the Original Webtoon

In an unusual twist, Class 1 explored an original story not featured in the webtoon, while Class 2 returns to the source material’s main storyline. With beloved characters like Yeon Si-eun, Park Hoo-min (Ryeoun), Go Hyun-tak (Lee Min-jae), and Seo Jun-tae (Choi Min-young) now facing off against rival alliances including Geum Sung-je (Lee Jun-young) and Na Baek-jin (Bae Na-ra), fans of both the series and webtoon are more hyped than ever.

A teaser featuring an intense face-off between Yeon Si-eun and Geum Sung-je—dubbed the “Yeon vs. Geum Showdown”—is already going viral. Fans praised the casting for its visual fidelity to the original and noted that large-scale action scenes reminiscent of the Japanese film Crows Zero suggest this season will be even more cinematic.

One Major Missing Piece: Where’s Jin Ga-yul?

Some viewers are questioning the absence of key webtoon characters—especially Jin Ga-yul, a barefoot fighting expert known for his unique kicking technique. In the teaser, Jin is notably missing, and it appears his traits may have been blended into Go Hyun-tak’s character, who is now portrayed as a taekwondo athlete.

Likewise, several characters from the Park Hoo-min crew, such as Lim Joo-yang and Jin Tae-oh, seem to have been excluded from the adaptation—sparking debate among webtoon purists. These changes could impact fan reception depending on how well the story stays true to the original themes.

Still, Anticipation is Exploding

Despite these shifts, viewer excitement remains sky-high. Comments from fans include:

“Absolutely loved Class 1. Can’t wait to binge Class 2.”

“This was hands down the best K-drama of 2022.”

“Park Ji-hoon’s eyes told the whole story.”

Season 2 promises an even deeper look into Yeon Si-eun’s psyche, as he builds a new bond with Ryeoun, Choi Min-young, and Lee Min-jae. New characters played by Yoo Soo-bin, Bae Na-ra, and Lee Jun-young are set to raise the emotional and physical stakes even higher.

With a larger ensemble and ramped-up action choreography, Class 2 is expected to deliver more heart-pounding fights and layered drama than ever before.

‘Weak Hero Class 2’ will premiere April 25 at 4PM KST, streaming worldwide on Netflix.
