Girls' Generation’s Taeyeon has suddenly canceled her solo concert in Japan just two days before showtime—due to a surprisingly odd reason.

On April 17, SM Entertainment announced on its official Japanese website that the upcoming Taeyeon Concert, scheduled for April 19 and 20 at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena, has been canceled.

The agency explained, “The equipment used in the Asia tour is currently being transported to Japan, but it has not yet arrived. This has made it extremely difficult to prepare for the concert in time.”

They added, “We explored every possible option through repeated consultations with the relevant parties, but ultimately concluded that we cannot hold the concert under optimal conditions. We deeply apologize to the fans who have been waiting.”

SM also stated that they are “considering the possibility of a rescheduled performance” and promised to provide further updates once plans are finalized.

Taeyeon had already performed in Seoul, Taipei, Manila, and Jakarta as part of this Asia tour. The Japan concert has now been officially canceled, but the tour is expected to continue in Macau on April 26, Singapore on May 3–4, Bangkok on May 31–June 1, and Hong Kong on June 7.

Meanwhile, this cancellation has reignited discussions about Taeyeon’s previous conflict with her agency. Last year, ahead of 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL', Taeyeon had publicly criticized SM Entertainment. She told fans via her platform, “I really wanted to perform. I even told the company I wanted to do two or three songs and was waiting. It’s not that I lacked motivation or didn’t want to do it.”

“I’m sincere about performing and always want to give my best. But they didn’t support me enough,” she said at the time, hinting at deeper issues in communication with the agency.
