“I Tried to Keep My Distance”—Why Ji Ye-eun Was Nervous Around BTS’s Jin

At a press conference for the Netflix variety show Kian’s Bizarre B&B (Korean title: 대환장 기안장), cast member Ji Ye-eun opened up about her initial nerves working alongside Jin of BTS.

The media event took place on April 15 at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul, with stars Kian84 (Kim Hee-min), Jin (Kim Seok-jin), Ji Ye-eun, and producers Jung Hyo-min, Hwang Yoon-seo, and Lee So-min in attendance.

When asked about her chemistry with Jin, Ji Ye-eun admitted, “He’s a world star, so I was afraid that if I got too close, people might criticize me. I tried to keep some distance. I was happy to be working with him, but also nervous.”

She added, “But once we were in that space, I realized it wasn’t possible to stay distant. We ended up getting close quickly. He was really easygoing and helped break the ice.”

Following Kian84’s playful comment that “Jin is the only BTS member I know,” Ji Ye-eun also chimed in, “He’s the only one I know too.”

Jin Responds: “People Get Scared Just by Association”

Jin candidly acknowledged that many are hesitant to interact with BTS members:

“People often say they’re afraid of being attacked online if they get involved with BTS. I’ve noticed that a lot.”

He continued with a laugh, “That’s why I sometimes overcompensate and approach people first.”

When asked if he’d recommend other BTS members join Kian’s Bizarre B&B, Jin joked, “Honestly, I’m the only one who really knows this show. I wouldn’t recommend it to them—this member is the best one for it.”
