Actor Kim Soo-hyun’s management agency has issued a formal statement addressing malicious online posts and comments targeting the star, announcing that legal action has already been taken.

On April 15, his agency Gold Medalist stated,“Malicious posts, defamatory comments, and the spread of false information about Kim Soo-hyun have been circulating online without restraint. In particular, baseless speculation and unfounded claims are being repeatedly posted, misleading the public and damaging the artist’s reputation.”
Formal Complaint Filed for Defamation and Insult
The agency emphasized that harmful behavior on online communities and social media—including false rumors, defamation, personal attacks, and sexual harassment—should not be taken lightly, calling it “a serious form of cybercrime.”
“Based on reports from fans and our own monitoring efforts, we officially submitted a complaint to law enforcement on April 14 for violations under Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act (defamation) and the Criminal Act (insult),” the agency revealed.
Gold Medalist also condemned “cyber rekka”—a slang term referring to individuals or channels that produce sensationalized, unverified content, often for views. “These anonymous creators are manufacturing fake news and inciting cyberbullying through videos and YouTube Shorts,” the agency said.

“With recent cases identifying these content creators and holding them legally accountable, we, too, will pursue strong action via international legal representation, including platforms like YouTube and X (formerly Twitter).”
Ongoing Efforts to Protect the Artist
Gold Medalist made it clear that they will continue to pursue additional lawsuits against similar posts and content, reiterating their commitment to defending their artist. “We will take strong legal measures against any behavior that harms the dignity and rights of our artist.”
Background: Dating Allegations Sparked by YouTube Channel
This legal action comes in the wake of allegations made by YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute, which in March claimed that Kim had been in a relationship with actress Kim Sae-ron since 2016—when she was 15 years old.
The channel shared private photos and details, causing widespread controversy.
On March 14, Kim’s agency firmly denied the claims, clarifying that “Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron only after she became an adult—from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020.”
Despite the denial, the scandal has affected Kim's public appearances. His footage in MBC variety show Good Day was entirely cut from broadcast, and the release of his upcoming Disney+ original series Knock Off has reportedly been indefinitely postponed.
