From beloved genius lawyer to a dark, brain-obsessed surgeon—Park Eun-bin opens up about her transformation in Hyper Knife and what’s next.
Disney+ Korea’s original series Hyper Knife concluded its 8-episode run on April 9, and it’s already turning heads—not just for its intense plot, but for Park Eun-bin’s dramatic transformation. Known for her warm, empathetic roles, the actress stepped into the shoes of a morally complex character unlike anything fans have seen from her before.
In Hyper Knife, Park plays Jung Se-ok, a once-promising neurosurgeon prodigy whose license is revoked by her mentor, Professor Choi Deok-hee (played by Seol Kyung-gu). Now working illegally at a private clinic and as a pharmacist, Se-ok straddles the line between savior and killer—a surgeon obsessed with the human brain, capable of both healing and murder.
Park pulled off this chilling duality with a fresh intensity, successfully shifting away from her past image as the sweet, kindhearted lead.

Speaking at a press event on April 15 in Seoul, Park said,
“Before the series aired, I found it hard to say things like ‘Please support this character’—because no matter what, she commits terrible acts. I didn’t try to justify her crimes or feel sympathy. I treated Se-ok as someone I got to know, like meeting a new friend. I just hoped viewers would accept her as she is—and surprisingly, many did.”
She also talked about preparing for the neurosurgery scenes:
“It was surreal. I once dreamed of becoming a doctor as a child, and now I was performing mock surgeries on set. A professor from Ewha Mokdong Hospital was always there, guiding me through the process. Just imagining that a single hand movement could determine someone’s fate—it was awe-inspiring.”

Comparisons to Extraordinary Attorney Woo?
Naturally, many still associate Park Eun-bin with her iconic role in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. But the actress is mindful of how viewers perceive her work:
“For those who didn’t follow all my projects, it may seem like this is my first major role since Woo. But that show aired nearly three years ago. I’ve done other work since then, and I always try to show something new in each project.”

As for Season 2 of Extraordinary Attorney Woo, she responded carefully:
“Knowing there are fans who are waiting is touching. But with any sequel, I believe you need the certainty that it can go beyond what Season 1 accomplished. Without that confidence, it’s not the right time.”
Despite being a child actress with a 30-year career, Park has stayed consistent and relevant—without taking major breaks.
“I actually prefer stability, but my career has brought me a lot of unexpected challenges. I always try to reflect, learn, and grow from them. Maybe that’s helped me avoid burnout and keep going.”
What She Hopes Hyper Knife Leaves Behind
“I want people to walk away asking themselves: What kind of impression did Se-ok leave on me? I’m looking forward to slowly receiving those answers.”
