“Is Park Bo-gum Returning in a Historical K-Drama?” Fans Are Buzzing Over His Hanbok Look

Actor Park Bo-gum is teaming up with four Korean hanbok brands to showcase the elegance and sophistication of traditional Korean attire to the world.

On April 15, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yoo In-chon) and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (President Jang Dong-gwang) announced that Park Bo-gum has been appointed as the official ambassador for the 2025 Hanbok Wave project.

Hanbok Wave will spotlight Park Bo-gum as the face of a campaign that seeks to redefine and expand the appeal of men’s hanbok. From April 15 to May 9, the ministry is accepting applications from hanbok companies interested in joining the project.

Now in its sixth year, Hanbok Wave is a cultural initiative that partners with major Hallyu (Korean Wave) artists to raise global awareness of hanbok and support the international expansion of promising hanbok brands. Previous ambassadors include actress Kim Tae-ri (2024), actress Suzy (2023), and former figure skater Kim Yuna (2022).

Nationwide Call for Hanbok Designers

Starting April 15 through May 9, the Ministry is accepting applications from small and medium-sized enterprises in the hanbok industry to participate in the project.

Four companies will be selected based on their creativity, professionalism, feasibility, and anticipated impact. These brands will create unique hanbok designs inspired by Park Bo-gum’s image and symbolism.

The final designs will be showcased globally—on digital billboards in major cities like Seoul, New York, Paris, and Milan, as well as in top fashion magazines.
