A surprising controversy surrounding a celebrity — the full story behind the “AirPods incident."
At the center of a growing personality debate is a male idol, and here’s the story behind it.
Sunwoo, a member of the K-pop group THE BOYZ, has come under fire for a controversy surrounding his manners and personality. His agency, Onehundred, responded with an official apology and statement.

On April 13, Onehundred stated:
“We are fully aware that the behavior displayed by Sunwoo in the video can raise concerns over his character. Sunwoo himself was quietly reflecting on the incident after discussing it with us.”
They continued,
“However, we find it unfortunate that the situation is unfolding differently from the direction in which both the agency and artist were taking to reflect and take responsibility. We deeply regret not having managed the situation more proactively before it escalated, and we also regret the artist’s careless behavior.”
The agency also declared a firm stance against malicious commenters, saying:
“There are currently baseless, malicious comments being spread in connection with this situation. For the sake of protecting our artist, we cannot overlook this, and we are preparing to take legal action.”
The Incident: The ‘AirPods Video’
The controversy erupted after a short video of Sunwoo circulated on various online communities and social media. The clip shows Sunwoo dropping his AirPods while moving between schedules. Instead of picking them up himself, he loudly shouted “AirPods!” A security guard retrieved them for him, and Sunwoo received them with one hand, without expressing thanks—behavior that drew criticism for appearing rude and inconsiderate.
Nana’s Reaction and Further Controversy

Adding fuel to the fire, model and actress Nana left a comment on the video saying, “He needs to be scolded,” which quickly gained attention. As the situation grew, Nana later addressed the matter on a fan communication platform:
“I may have misjudged the situation. Anyone can be misunderstood depending on the context,” she said.
Still, she added, “I don’t know who he is, but if someone like that were next to me, I would’ve said the same thing. ‘You need to be scolded,’ and also asked, ‘Where did you learn behavior like that?’” offering a stern rebuke.
Full Statement from Onehundred (Agency of THE BOYZ)
Hello, this is Onehundred.
We are well aware of the ongoing controversy surrounding THE BOYZ member Sunwoo, which has been widely discussed in the media and online communities over the past few days.
First, we sincerely apologize for not properly managing issues related to our artist’s character.
We also fully recognize that Sunwoo’s behavior in the video could spark a character controversy. Sunwoo, too, was calmly reflecting after discussions with the company.
However, we find it regrettable that the situation is developing in a direction different from the path of reflection that both we and the artist were taking. We deeply regret not having managed the matter more actively before it occurred, as well as the artist's careless actions.
All artists under our company deserve to be managed and protected properly. This situation is ultimately the company's fault, and the artist is now reflecting even on aspects he hadn’t previously recognized.
Based on continued communication with our artists, Onehundred will do its utmost to ensure such mishaps do not happen again. Once again, we bow our heads in apology.
Lastly, with regard to the baseless, malicious comments being made about this incident, we want to make it clear that we cannot leave them unchecked in order to protect our artist. We are preparing to take firm legal action.
Thank you.
