Are stars losing basic manners?
A moment of controversy—what’s the truth behind it?
Actress Nana, formerly of After School, addressed the controversy over allegedly calling out THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo for rude behavior.
On April 12, Nana spoke on a fan communication platform, saying, “I was surprised by all the hate comments and demands for an apology on my SNS. I didn’t write my comment expecting it to make the news, but it seems like things blew up more than I thought.”

She clarified, “You shouldn’t judge someone based on a short clip. I wasn’t judging him as a person—I just thought his behavior in the video was rude and shocking to me.” She added, “My comment, ‘He needs to be scolded,’ was just my reaction to that behavior.”
Describing the scene, Nana said, “He dropped his AirPods and loudly said ‘My AirPods’ for everyone to hear, but didn’t move to pick them up. He stood still, looking in that direction. Was he expecting someone else to get them? Maybe a security guard just because he’s older? Should others act as his hands and feet?”
She continued, “Maybe I misunderstood. Anyone can be misjudged in a situation. So I rewatched the video many times. I don’t know who he is, but if someone like that were next to me, I would’ve said the same thing—‘You need to be scolded,’ and ‘Where did you learn to act like that?’”
The video in question, which went viral online, showed Sunwoo after a radio show shouting “My AirPods” as he entered an elevator. A bodyguard ran over to pick them up and handed them to him with both hands, but Sunwoo took them with one hand and left without saying thank you—sparking criticism over his manners.
Nana’s comment on the video, “He needs to be scolded,” drew attention. When another user criticized her for judging someone based on a short clip and being thoughtless as a public figure, she replied, “You can tell a lot from one thing.”

Sunwoo later responded: “I didn’t realize at first. I looked confused because I didn’t know what fell. When I saw it was my AirPods, I shouted, ‘My AirPods!’ and was looking for them. I didn’t bow when receiving them, but I did say ‘Thank you.’”
He added, “I can’t keep explaining every little thing, but I understand it’s my fault if it came off that way. I always greet the staff politely, and I’ll be more careful to avoid misunderstandings.”
