Composer and entertainer Jeong Jae-hyung caught off guard by “World-Class Only” ingredient policy joke

Jeong Jae-hyung, the composer-turned-YouTuber known for his elegant home-cooked meals, stirred up both envy and laughter on the April 6 episode of JTBC’s Please Take Care of My Refrigerator Since 2014 (냉장고를 부탁해).

VIP Treatment for Jennie and J-Hope?

The episode gained buzz when Jeong’s fridge was opened, revealing luxurious ingredients — most notably, a tin of caviar. When asked who the delicacy was served to, Jeong casually replied, “Jennie… and then J-Hope.” This prompted MC Kim Sung-joo to joke, “So only world-class stars get caviar? That’s the entry level?” The room burst into laughter, with Jeong jokingly adding, “Everyone has caviar in their fridge, right?”

But just as viewers marveled at his upscale guest list, Jeong confessed a cooking mishap with actress Kim Go-eun: “I had the rice ready in the electric cooker, but I forgot to press the cook button… It was raw.” The hosts teased him, calling it a humbling contrast to his VIP treatment of K-pop idols.

Inside ‘Fairy Jaehyung’: A Parisian Kitchen with a Korean Heart

Jeong also opened up about his YouTube channel Fairy Jaehyung, which blends French home-cooking with deep, personal conversations. “When I studied abroad in France, I had a lot of struggles,” he said. “One day, just chatting in a friend’s kitchen helped me feel better. That’s when I realized how comforting kitchen conversations can be.”

He revealed that he carefully checks guests' allergies and preferences, and that many celebrities agree to appear because of the warmth and relaxed atmosphere. “It’s both — good casting and cozy vibes,” he said, before humorously revealing that he came on 냉부해 mainly to convince soccer star Ahn Jung-hwan to appear on his own show.

The banter continued when Kim Sung-joo recalled his own episode appearance, joking that he was a last-minute replacement and was even stopped by a security guard before Jeong rescued him at the entrance. Jeong laughed it off, denying the exaggeration, while Kim mimicked Jeong’s fluent French to tease him further.

A Musician With Parisian Credentials

Jeong shared details about his time studying in France: “I spent two years studying film scoring and five years on contemporary classical composition.” Figure skater Cha Jun-hwan, who was also on set, said he assumed Jeong’s “Parisian” label was just branding — until he heard him speak fluent French and learned he had lived in Paris for years.

When the cast noted that Jeong hadn’t spoken any French during the episode, he deadpanned, “I haven’t said a single word in French today,” drawing more laughter.

From caviar royalty to raw rice realism, Jeong Jae-hyung proved once again that great cooking is about more than perfect results — it’s about good company, great conversation, and a sense of humor.
