Bonded Over a Love for Science, Now Married
Singer Younha (Go Youn-ha, 37) recently tied the knot, and it’s been revealed that her husband is none other than popular science YouTuber “Science Cookie” (real name: Lee Hyo-jong, 36).

According to SPOTV News on March 31, Younha held a private wedding ceremony the previous day at a hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. Her groom, “Science Cookie,” is a well-known science content creator with over 440,000 subscribers on YouTube.
A graduate of Gongju National University of Education and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Lee is a former physics teacher turned science YouTuber. He has gained a loyal following by breaking down complex topics—like quantum mechanics and relativity—into fun and easy-to-understand videos. His YouTube series was even selected in 2018 by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity as an “Outstanding Science Cultural Product.”

The wedding was an intimate event attended by about 80 guests, including family and close friends. Singer Paul Kim performed his hit ballad “Every Day, Every Moment” as a congratulatory song, celebrating the couple’s new beginning.
Younha has long expressed her deep interest in science, evident in her discography with titles and lyrics referencing space—such as “Comet,” “Event Horizon,” and “Oort Cloud.” Her 2022 release “Event Horizon” became a sleeper hit, climbing back up the charts and capturing the public’s love.

In 2023, Younha was the only artist invited to a presidential luncheon with pioneers in the space industry, where she introduced her album as “a product that could not exist without scientific achievement.”
With her enduring passion for science, it’s no surprise that Younha and Science Cookie connected over their shared interests. Their mutual love for science blossomed into a relationship, ultimately leading them to marriage.
Younha debuted in Japan in 2004 with the single “Yubikiri” and began her career in Korea in 2006. She has since become one of the most beloved vocalists in the country, with hits like “Password 486,” “Waiting,” “Broke Up Today,” “Comet,” “Umbrella,” “The Real Reason We Broke Up,” “Event Horizon,” and “Oort Cloud.”
