'Face Geniuses' Netflix's New K-Drama Stars Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, Nana, and a Surprise!

On March 27, Netflix officially announced the production of its upcoming drama Scandal (working title), revealing a high-profile cast that includes Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana.

Scandal is based on the 2003 film Untold Scandal, which itself was a provocative reimagining of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s classic French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses. The film transported the story of forbidden love, seduction, and betrayal—originally set in the decadent French aristocracy just before the Revolution—into the rigid and morally complex world of Korea’s Joseon Dynasty. Despite its R rating, the movie drew over 3.52 million viewers, captivating audiences with its sensual narrative, lush costumes, and visually stunning production design. Expectations are now high to see how Netflix will reinvent the story for modern audiences in drama form.

This new adaptation marks Son Ye-jin’s highly anticipated return to the small screen. She plays Lady Jo, a woman of great talent and allure who dares to navigate forbidden love and manipulation in an era where women had no power. She proposes a dangerous wager of seduction to Jo-won, showcasing her intelligence and mastery of courtly games.

Ji Chang-wook takes on the role of Jo-won, a notorious playboy who values pleasure over prestige. Disinterested in climbing the political ladder, he becomes fixated on winning Lady Jo’s heart through any means necessary—even if it means bending the rules of morality.

Nana plays Hee-yeon, a widow devoted to preserving her virtue, who becomes the target of Jo-won’s seductive schemes. Though she tries to resist him, she’s soon thrown into emotional turmoil as unfamiliar feelings begin to stir.

According to News1, SF9’s Chani is also joining the cast as In-ho, a flower-boy scholar who adds a refreshing dynamic to the drama. Known for his solid performances in series like Under the Queen’s Umbrella and SKY Castle, Chani’s addition is expected to bring youthful energy to the story.

Scandal will be released globally through Netflix.
