Kim Soo-hyun fully edited out following grooming controversy; show resumes March 30

After a one-week hiatus, MBC’s star-studded variety show Good Day is back with a new teaser for its upcoming “General Assembly” episode—this time, without Kim Soo-hyun.

On March 25, the Good Day team released a 40-second preview through its official YouTube channel TEO, titled “GD’s Dream Becomes Reality! Good Day General Assembly D-DAY.” The video featured a lively reunion of the show’s cast, including G-Dragon, Jo Se-ho, Hwang Jung-min, Hwang Kwang-hee, Hong Jin-kyung, Aiki, and Defconn, who gathered for a festive and laughter-filled episode.

Jo Se-ho greeted Hwang Jung-min warmly, saying, “It’s been a while,” while Kwang-hee asked for a selfie, reminiscing about old memories. G-Dragon hosted a charity auction with his personal items, adding even more excitement to the gathering. Hong Jin-young fiercely bid in the auction, shouting, “It’s not over yet!” And as a final surprise, aespa made a guest appearance, further raising anticipation.

G-Dragon, ever the entertainer, even performed a short dance for his juniors. When the response from the group was less than enthusiastic, he raised his hand playfully and said, “I apologize,” drawing laughter from the cast.

However, one name was conspicuously missing: Kim Soo-hyun. Despite being part of the original Good Day lineup, he was entirely absent from the teaser. In earlier episodes, Kim was seen only briefly in wide group shots without any dialogue or close-ups, and now, his presence has been removed altogether.

This editing move follows intense public backlash stemming from grooming allegations involving the late actress Kim Sae-ron. Her family alleged that Kim had been in a relationship with her during her time as a minor and accused him of neglecting her financial hardships. Kim Soo-hyun, through his agency Gold Medalist, denied the claims and maintained that their relationship began after she reached adulthood. Despite his statements, the controversy remains unresolved.

Following the allegations, Good Day announced that the episode originally scheduled for March 23 would be postponed for “program restructuring.” However, it is now widely believed that the delay was to give the production team time to edit Kim out of the footage.

Given that Kim had been seated near the center during filming, many fans speculated the editing process would be particularly challenging. After seeing the latest teaser, some viewers commented, “The editing team must’ve worked overtime,” and “It’s sad to see him go, but it must’ve been necessary.”

Meanwhile, others praised the show’s decision to move forward without airing unedited footage of Kim. Earlier, Good Day had faced criticism for initially proceeding with filming and broadcasts despite the growing controversy.

Now restructured and re-edited, Good Day will officially return on March 30 at 9:10 PM KST on MBC. With G-Dragon leading the “Good Day Family” into its highly anticipated General Assembly, viewers are curious to see how the show evolves—both in content and in cast dynamics—moving forward.
