Dex's Fridge Secrets: A Hilarious Kimchi Encounter

TV personality Hong Jin-kyung has personally addressed a curious rumor involving her and Dex — and some very questionably stored kimchi.

The two currently co-host Netflix’s Single’s Inferno, with Dex having transitioned from a Season 2 contestant to a full-time MC.

During a recent episode of JTBC’s Please Take Care of My Refrigerator, Dex and actress Lee Da-hee appeared as guests and revealed the contents of their actual fridges. Among the items in Dex’s refrigerator? A batch of kimchi stuffed into what looked like a trash bag and tied up with a cable tie.

“I honestly have no idea where it came from,” Dex confessed. “One day I came home after drinking, opened the fridge, and there it was — in a trash bag.”

Lee Da-hee, spotting the packaging, immediately suggested, “Didn’t Hong Jin-kyung give you this? It looks exactly like the kimchi she makes.” Hong Jin-kyung is also a well-known kimchi entrepreneur. Dex responded with uncertainty, saying, “Hmm… that could be it,” though he still didn’t seem totally convinced.

Host Kim Sung-joo joked, “Best solution? Let’s just get Hong Jin-kyung to appear on this show herself.”

But then came the twist.

After the episode aired, Hong Jin-kyung took to Instagram Stories to clear things up. “The kimchi in Dex’s fridge isn’t ours,” she wrote, adding, “I only gave him dumplings.”

Never one to miss a marketing moment, she playfully added, “Dear customer~ While I’m here, let me showcase our kimchi real quick 😉.”

While the true origin of the mysterious trash-bag kimchi remains unsolved, the incident ended in good humor — and maybe even boosted sales for Hong Jin-kyung’s food business.

Meanwhile, Netflix has officially announced that Single’s Inferno 5 is in production and is currently casting contestants.
