"Oppa! Just listen" Why Lee Min-jung Snapped at Lee Byung-hun Is All Too Relatable

Actor Lee Byung-hun recently gave fans a glimpse into his married life with actress Lee Min-jung — and let’s just say, she’s got serious comedy chops.

On the March 24 episode of YouTube show “Zzan-Han-Hyung(Zzan Bro) Shin Dong-yeop”, Lee Byung-hun joined host Shin Dong-yeop for drinks and candid conversation. As they chatted over drinks, Lee brought up his wife’s playful side, saying, “She really loves trying to be funny. When she leaves witty comments online, she’ll come home and immediately talk about it — like, ‘Did you see what I wrote?’ She genuinely enjoys it now.”

Shin Dong-yeop, a close friend of Lee’s, backed him up with a laugh. “Whenever I drink with Byung-hun, Min-jung joins us after their kid goes to bed — and she’s hilarious. She just slides into the room and totally steals the spotlight. You can feel how much she enjoys it.”

But behind the laughs, Lee admitted he often tiptoes around his wife at home. Reflecting on the early years of their marriage, he shared, “It took me over five years to understand that men and women think so differently.”

He explained that during arguments, he used to try fixing things with logic — a move that usually backfired. “When my wife vented about her tough day, I’d try to calm her down by saying things like, ‘Maybe the other person acted that way because of XYZ.’ I thought I was helping by offering solutions. But one day, as I started again with ‘Here’s what I think…,’ she cut me off like, 'Oppa! Just listen.’ That’s when I got it — she didn’t want a fix, she just needed me to hear her out.”

These days, Lee says he’s learned the art of empathizing without problem-solving. “Now I just throw in reactions like, ‘No way! Who does that?!’ Even pretend to be mad for her,” he said, laughing.

Lee and Lee Min-jung, who married in 2013, now have a son and daughter. Despite some ups and downs, the couple continues to show a strong and loving partnership.

In a past appearance on JTBC’s variety show “Gamsung Camping,” Lee Min-jung shared how she hesitated before marriage — but Lee Byung-hun’s words helped her decide. “I kept postponing the decision,” she said. “But one day, he told me, ‘If you want to marry me, I’ll wait — just make the call.’ That’s when I realized I’d never meet someone like him again.”

Looking back, she added, “If I hadn’t married him then, I probably never would’ve married anyone.”

Now, more than a decade later, the two continue to share laughter — and lessons — as they navigate life together.
