T.O.P vs Swings: The Role That Could Have Changed Everything
Rapper Swings recently shared a surprising story about being considered for a role in Squid Game 2 by director Hwang Dong-hyuk.

Swings, who is set to appear on the March 19 episode of MBC’s ‘Radio Star’, will talk about his unexpected mention by the globally acclaimed director. In a past interview, Hwang revealed that he had once considered casting Swings for the role of “Thanos”, the character played by former BIGBANG’s T.O.P (Choi Seung-hyun).

Swings Steps Into Acting
During the show, Swings also opens up about his recent foray into acting. The rapper revealed that he has been attending the same prestigious acting academy that trained stars like Won Bin and Kang Dong-won. He humorously admitted that while memorizing rap lyrics is already challenging, learning scripts is even harder, drawing laughter from the studio.

Swings also surprised everyone by revealing that he has already completed his acting debut in a web drama, which is set to be released in late April. He also promised to share updates on his rap career, making his Radio Star appearance a must-watch for fans.
The Controversy Behind ‘Squid Game 2’ and T.O.P’s Role
The character “Thanos” in Squid Game 2, now played by T.O.P, has been a subject of both excitement and controversy. In the series, Thanos is a former hip-hop survival show runner-up who loses his entire fortune and joins the deadly game out of desperation.
T.O.P’s casting sparked debate, given his past scandals and long hiatus from the entertainment industry. However, director Hwang Dong-hyuk defended his decision, stating that T.O.P underwent auditions and demonstrated both acting skills and strong determination, which ultimately secured him the role.
‘Squid Game 3’ to Premiere in June
Meanwhile, the anticipation for ‘Squid Game 3’ is at an all-time high. The next installment of Netflix’s global sensation is officially set to premiere in June 2025, promising another intense and gripping chapter in the franchise.
