Actress Go Hyun-jung has shared a rare glimpse into her family life, posting heartwarming photos and videos on her personal account on March 15. She captioned the post, “Happy 80th birthday, Mom. Stay healthy.”

The images feature Go Hyun-jung’s family, including her parents and younger brother. Another woman in the photos, presumed to be her brother’s wife, caught fans’ attention due to her striking resemblance to the actress. The resemblance was so uncanny that many commented they could be twins.

Go Hyun-jung, known for keeping her personal life private, rarely shares family moments, making this post even more special. One of the images captures her and her mother engaged in a heartfelt conversation, while another shows her parents blowing out candles as they celebrate the milestone birthday surrounded by loved ones.

Late last year, Go Hyun-jung temporarily stepped away from activities due to a sudden health issue that required surgery. Photos from that time revealed she had undergone a nasogastric intubation, a procedure where a tube is inserted through the nose into the stomach for treatment and nutrition. This method is commonly used for patients experiencing post-surgical complications, gastrointestinal bleeding, or breathing difficulties.

Medical professionals had emphasized that she needed absolute rest for a full recovery. Fortunately, she was discharged in January and has since completed filming for the upcoming SBS drama Mantis.

Reflections on Motherhood & Love

During her 2023 appearance on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, Go Hyun-jung opened up about her personal struggles, addressing speculation regarding her relationship with her children. “People wonder whether I stay in touch with my kids or not. A mother should simply feel comfortable with her children, but for me, that was never the case,” she shared.

She expressed deep sadness over the emotional distance, saying, “When I realized that we weren’t close, I never imagined it would feel this painful. It’s a void that can never be filled.”

Go Hyun-jung also reminisced about her past love life, recalling, “I unexpectedly fell in love, and I never knew dating could be so much fun. I was so immersed in it that I could stay up all night and still go to work feeling energized.”

Looking Ahead

Reflecting on her past interactions with the public, Go Hyun-jung admitted, “I feel like there were times when I was unintentionally rude in front of people.” She added, “I want to continue working on meaningful projects and maintain a sense of relevance as an actress, even as I age.”
