tvN’s Biggest Hit Returns After 4 Years—Drama Teaser Blows Up Overnight

After facing delays, one of tvN’s most anticipated dramas has officially locked in its premiere date.

Resident Playbook (also known as Wise Resident Life), the long-awaited Hospital Playlist spin-off, will finally air on April 12. Centered around OBGYN residents at Jongno Yulje Hospital, the drama will follow their journey as they navigate the challenges of becoming doctors.

To mark the announcement, the production team dropped an ID badge poster and two teaser videos, sparking excitement. The poster showcases first-year residents Oh Yi-young (Go Youn-jung), Pyo Nam-kyung (Shin Sia), Eom Jae-il (Kang You-seok), and Kim Sa-bi (Han Ye-ji), each displaying distinct expressions that hint at their unique personalities and the struggles ahead.

Resident Playbook carries on the heartwarming charm of Hospital Playlist, capturing the chaotic yet endearing lives of young doctors in training. Featuring a fresh ensemble cast—including Go Youn-jung, Shin Sia, Kang You-seok, Han Ye-ji, and Jung Joon-won—the drama will showcase the highs and lows of life inside Yulje Hospital’s OBGYN department.

The comeback teaser offers a nostalgic nod to the original Hospital Playlist squad before shifting to the new residents at Yulje. It features a flustered Professor (Lee Hyun-kyun) shouting for Oh Yi-young, panicked residents scrambling to respond to an emergency, and a comedic moment where Yi-young hides behind a door to avoid trouble. Another teaser highlights the exhausting reality of their lives—residents barely getting a bite of their burgers before being urgently called away.

The production team shared, “We aim to depict a relatable coming-of-age story for young professionals, showcasing their struggles and growth in an unfamiliar, demanding workplace.”

Originally slated for May 2023, Resident Playbook faced scheduling setbacks due to a nationwide medical resident strike, delaying its broadcast by nearly a year. Now, with its premiere officially set, expectations are high for this fresh take on the Hospital Playlist universe.
