The tragic passing of singer Wheesung at the young age of 43 has left the Korean music industry in mourning.

According to the Seoul Gwangjin Police Station, Wheesung was found unresponsive at his residence in Gwangjin-gu on March 10 at approximately 6:29 PM. Emergency responders arrived following a distress call from his family, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His agency confirmed, “Wheesung was discovered in cardiac arrest at his Seoul home and was declared deceased.” Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of death.

KCM’s Heartbreaking Message—Concert Canceled

Among those hit hardest by the news is singer KCM, who had been set to perform alongside Wheesung in Wheesung X KCM Concert in Daegu on March 15. Devastated, KCM shared a white chrysanthemum image on Instagram with the message, “You said we’d meet on March 15… Sung-ah, I’m sorry.” In light of Wheesung’s passing, the concert has been canceled.

Ock Joo-hyun Remembers Their Vocal Training Days

Singer and musical actress Ock Joo-hyun took to Instagram to pay tribute, posting a throwback video of their 2004 duet performance on Music Camp. She reflected on their years of rigorous vocal training together, writing:

“In our 20s, we were completely immersed in vocal lessons, going from one session to another, endlessly discussing techniques. Thanks to you, I even stood for hours in front of soundproof walls practicing rock vocals. We were just passionate students of music back then.”

STAYC & ICHILLIN’ Postpone Schedules in Tribute

The K-pop industry continues to grieve the loss of singer Wheesung, with groups STAYC and ICHILLIN’ postponing their official schedules as a sign of respect.

On March 11, STAYC’s agency, High Up Entertainment, announced via social media that the group’s upcoming promotions for their fifth single album S would be delayed. “The promotional events originally scheduled for March 11 and 13 will now take place on March 12 and 14,” the statement read. “We express our deepest condolences over this heartbreaking news and ask for fans’ understanding during this time. May he rest in peace.”

Similarly, ICHILLIN’ has temporarily suspended all activities to pay tribute to Wheesung. Their agency, KM Entertainment, stated, “We are deeply saddened by this sudden tragedy and want to take time to honor his memory.
