“Kim Soo-hyun Dated Late Kim Sae-ron When She Was 15?” Agency Issues Strong Response

Kim Soo-hyun’s agency has strongly denied allegations raised by YouTube channel 'Garo Sero Institute', which claimed the actor had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron. The agency also announced that it is considering legal action against the channel for spreading false information.

On March 10, Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, issued a statement refuting the claims, stating, “The content presented by Garo Sero Institute regarding Kim Soo-hyun is completely false.”

The controversy erupted when Garo Sero Institute aired a broadcast alleging that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron had been in a relationship since 2014, when she was just 15 years old, while he was an adult. Kim Sae-ron’s aunt had an interview with the broadcast, claiming that the two met when Sae-ron was in middle school at age 15 and the two dated for six years. The channel further alleged that Kim Soo-hyun encouraged Kim Sae-ron to sign with Gold Medalist, a then-new agency founded by him and his relatives.

Gold Medalist swiftly hit back, declaring, “We are reviewing the strongest possible legal measures in response to Garo Sero Institute’s spread of false information.” The agency also expressed its grief over Kim Sae-ron’s passing, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the death of our former artist and mourn her loss. However, the false claims made by Garo Sero Institute echo the kind of cyber harassment that troubled her in life. These baseless allegations damage the reputation of our company and Kim Soo-hyun while also disrespecting the memory of the late actress for financial gain. We will take strict action.”

The YouTube channel also claimed that Gold Medalist and Kim Soo-hyun had colluded with another YouTuber, Lee Jin-ho, to harass Kim Sae-ron, and that the agency mishandled her DUI controversy in 2022. Gold Medalist refuted all accusations, calling them “malicious fabrications that cannot be ignored.”

Last year, rumors about Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron surfaced after she posted a selfie with the actor on social media. However, she deleted the post shortly afterward. Kim Sae-ron, who rose to fame as a child actress in the 2010 hit film starring with Won Bin in 'The Man from Nowhere', was found deceased at her home in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, on February 16. In 2022, she was caught for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, which led to significant controversy.
