A Netflix series that had sky-high expectations has officially delivered, soaring to No. 1 in South Korea within just two days of release.

The show in question? Netflix’s latest variety hit, K-Foodie Meets J-Foodie, has quickly taken the top spot in the country’s Netflix TOP 10 Series rankings. Despite tough competition, the show’s overwhelming popularity secured its place at the top.

Released on February 27, K-Foodie Meets J-Foodie claimed the No. 1 spot on March 1 and, as of March 4, continues to dominate.

K-Foodie Meets J-Foodie brings together two food-loving stars: Sung Si-kyung, a renowned Korean ballad singer and food content creator, and Yutaka Matsushige, the iconic actor behind Solitary Gourmet, a Japanese drama that popularized solo dining culture.

Rather than just showcasing famous eateries, the series dives deep into personal, hidden culinary gems cherished by the two hosts.

The first episode takes viewers through Tokyo, where Matsushige introduces hidden food spots—including a top-tier dessert restaurant serving Japan’s most expensive cheesecake. Sung Si-kyung, initially taken aback by the price, took one bite and immediately admitted, "Now I understand the price. This is incredible."

Matsushige, known for his stoic demeanor in Solitary Gourmet, brings a more human and charming side to the show, marking his first-ever regular variety show appearance.
