Health Risks of Obesity: A Warning Through Bang Si-hyuk’s Transformation.
On February 20, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk made an appearance at the 64th annual general meeting of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) at the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, drawing significant attention.

What stood out the most was his noticeably slimmer figure. Dressed in a sleek black suit, Bang took the stage, revealing a sharper jawline and a transformed look compared to his previous appearances.
This marks the first time Bang has attended an FKI event, where top business leaders gathered to discuss economic issues and industry growth. As a representative of a newly joined member company, he actively participated in the event, including a commemorative group photo session.

Bang Si-hyuk was once visibly overweight, bringing attention to the growing concerns surrounding severe obesity.
Defined by a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or higher, severe obesity is more than just excessive weight gain—it significantly increases the risk of various health conditions. The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified severe obesity as a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases, emphasizing the urgent need for awareness and prevention.
One of the most serious risks is cardiovascular disease. Excess body fat can narrow blood vessels and raise blood pressure, heightening the likelihood of conditions such as arteriosclerosis, heart attacks, and strokes. Additionally, the strain of excessive weight makes it harder for the heart to circulate blood, increasing the risk of heart failure.
Type 2 diabetes is another major concern. People with severe obesity often develop insulin resistance, making it difficult to regulate blood sugar levels. Abdominal obesity, in particular, is strongly linked to diabetes, further increasing the risk of complications.
Respiratory health is also affected. Excess fat reduces lung capacity and can lead to conditions like sleep apnea, where breathing temporarily stops during sleep. This can cause chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases.

Severe obesity puts immense strain on the joints, especially the knees and lower back, making individuals more prone to arthritis. In extreme cases, mobility issues may require surgery due to severe joint damage.
Mental health is another area of concern. Studies show that people with severe obesity are at a higher risk of depression and anxiety disorders. Social stigma and low self-esteem can lead to psychological distress, often resulting in unhealthy eating habits that create a vicious cycle.
Experts stress the importance of proactive weight management. A balanced diet and regular exercise are essential, and in some cases, professional medical treatment and counseling may be necessary. Maintaining a healthy weight should be viewed as a long-term commitment to overall well-being rather than just a cosmetic goal.''
