On February 12 (KST), Yang’s team, Queens Park Rangers (QPR), faced Coventry City in the 32nd round of the 2024-25 EFL Championship at Coventry Building Society Arena.

Listed on the bench for the third straight match since joining QPR, Yang was subbed in at the 71st minute, replacing Paul Smyth. Just a minute later, he attempted an aggressive dribble past two defenders before delivering a cross into the center, but the opposition swiftly cleared the ball.

In the 76th minute, he dropped back into the defensive zone to receive the ball and attempted a pass, though a miscommunication with a teammate resulted in a turnover.

At the 88th minute, during a counterattack, Yang sprinted down the right flank to chase a through ball, but a Coventry defender made a crucial tackle to dispossess him.

QPR ultimately fell to a heartbreaking last-minute goal in stoppage time, with Thomas netting the winner off a corner kick in the 95th minute, sealing Coventry’s 1-0 victory.

With the loss, QPR remains in 13th place with a record of 10 wins, 11 draws, and 11 losses (41 points) in the 24-team league. Yang played 19 minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Despite the defeat, the Korean midfielder has shown impressive form in his short time at QPR. In his debut against Millwall, he wowed fans with a stunning long-range effort, and in his second appearance against Blackburn, he played a key role in the decisive goal.
