IVE Sends Funeral Flowers for Elementary School Student Victim.

A wreath sent in the name of K-pop group IVE has drawn attention at the memorial service for Kim Ha-neul(8), the young victim of a tragic elementary school stabbing incident.

On February 11, IVE expressed their deepest condolences by sending funeral flowers to Kim’s memorial. Kim was known to be a devoted fan of the group. The heartbreaking incident took place on February 10 at an elementary school in Seo-gu, Daegu. Kim was found with stab wounds alongside a teacher, identified as B, in one of the school’s classrooms. She was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest but tragically did not survive.

During police questioning, B stated, "I intended to kill any student, regardless of who it was, and take my own life afterward."

B had been on leave due to depression and returned to work as a teacher in December 2024. Authorities confirmed that B had no prior connection to Kim.

Kim’s father shared that his daughter dreamed of becoming an idol like IVE’s Jang Wonyoung. “For her birthday, she asked for Jang Wonyoung photocards. Everything she owned was related to Jang Wonyoung,” he said.

Kim’s grandfather, Kim Hyung-yong, recalled her as a kindhearted child. “She was so gentle that she always let her younger sibling win. She loved to dance and often performed for her grandparents. She wanted to be a K-pop idol when she grew up.”
