On February 10, a local media outlet revealed that South Korea’s National Tax Service conducted an intensive tax audit on Jun Ji-hyun in September 2023. Responding swiftly, her agency, Ieum#, clarified, "During the 2023 tax investigation, Jun Ji-hyun fully complied with all necessary procedures and was cleared of any major issues."

The agency elaborated, “There was a difference in interpretation regarding certain expense processing methods between the tax accountant and the National Tax Service. As a result, an additional tax payment of approximately 20 million KRW (around $$13,770) was made.”

They emphasized that the additional payment was part of “a routine adjustment during the tax reconciliation process” and assured that “this has no connection to any significant tax-related problems or illegal activities.”

Below is the full statement released by Jun Ji-hyun’s agency:

"Regarding today’s report on Jun Ji-hyun’s tax audit, we would like to clarify the following:

Jun Ji-hyun fully cooperated with the 2023 tax investigation and was confirmed to have followed all proper procedures without any major issues. However, due to differing interpretations between the tax accountant and the National Tax Service over the classification of certain expenses, there was a minor disagreement. As a result, Jun Ji-hyun paid an additional 20 million KRW in taxes.

We want to reiterate that this adjustment is a common occurrence during tax audits and is not indicative of any serious tax violations or illegal conduct."
