On February 7, Son & Football Limited states, “Monitoring false posts and malicious rumors online.”

Son Heung-min’s agency, Son & Football Limited, has taken action against malicious online posts targeting the Tottenham Hotspur player.

On February 7, the agency released an official statement on its website, announcing that they are monitoring false rumors and defamatory posts being circulated on social media and online communities.

“We are currently tracking and collecting data on malicious posts, including defamation, false information, and slander against Son Heung-min, in collaboration with legal experts,” the statement said.

The agency emphasized that malicious posts found on platforms like DC Inside, blogs, YouTube, and social media are considered clear legal violations. “We will respond strongly without leniency or settlement,” they added.

The announcement follows recent incidents involving a rumor that Son allegedly paid for 30 million KRW worth of alcohol and food at a Gangnam club for Bayern Munich players. The rumor began circulating after Tottenham and Bayern Munich played a friendly match in Korea last summer.

The false claims originated from MDs (merchandisers) working at the club, one of whom posted on their social media: “Bayern Munich players here today, and Son Heung-min paid the bill.”

When the controversy intensified, the MDs tried to deflect blame, claiming they had mentioned a different person named “Kim Heung-min,” but the public backlash continued.

Son’s agency responded, clarifying that Son had returned home immediately after the match to rest and that the claims were fabricated to promote the club. “This behavior tarnishes the reputation of Son Heung-min, who is known for his disciplined and responsible lifestyle,” the agency stated, promising swift legal action.

Following this, the agency filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station, leading to the indictment of five club MDs on charges of defamation. Last month, the police referred them to the prosecution without detention.

Meanwhile, Son Heung-min prepares for Tottenham Hotspur’s crucial Premier League clash against Chelsea on February 10, 2025, staying laser-focused on delivering standout performances amidst ongoing media buzz. As one of the top-scoring forwards this season, Son remains committed to leading Tottenham’s offensive charge, with fans eagerly searching for updates on his form, strategy, and injury status. Despite recent distractions, the South Korean star is determined to maintain his reputation as a key player in Premier League fixtures while boosting his team’s Champions League hopes.
