Korean comedy film extends success with a second season
Actress Choi Ji-woo made a surprise cameo in the hit comedy action film Hitman 2, which has surpassed 2 million viewers, becoming 2025’s first box office success.

Directed by Choi Won-sub, Hitman 2 follows the chaotic adventures of Jun, a once-celebrated webtoon artist who falls from grace and is accused of being a criminal when a terrorist attack mimics his latest webtoon. The movie combines various genres from slapstick comedy, to action, and heartfelt family drama. The film’s comedic and action-packed plot has captivated audiences, and Choi Ji-woo’s special appearance has only heightened the buzz.
The studded cast includes Kwon Sang-woo, who delivers a hilarious and action-packed performance, balancing physical comedy with intense fight scenes. Jung Joon-ho plays Jun’s former boss, adding layers of both authority and humor. Lee Yi-kyung returns as the bumbling rookie-turned-action hero, stealing scenes with his comedic timing.

Choi Ji-woo appears briefly but leaves a strong impact as an emergency doctor who captures the attention of Deok-kyu and Chul. Her cameo is especially meaningful due to her past collaboration with actor Kwon Sang-woo in the iconic 2003 drama Stairway to Heaven, which remains one of Korea’s most beloved dramas.
The cameo idea originated from Kwon Sang-woo himself, who called Choi Ji-woo on the spot and invited her to join the project. Her willingness to support her former co-star delighted audiences, with many expressing nostalgia over seeing "Song Joo Oppa" and "Jung-seo" reunited on-screen.
