'Taxi Driver' Season 3 Set to Air in Late 2025 on SBS!
SBS’s iconic Friday-Saturday drama 'Taxi Driver'—a quintessential example of Korean caper dramas—is making its highly anticipated comeback with Season 3, set to air in the second half of 2025. The production team officially confirmed the scheduling on February 6.
Based on a popular webtoon, 'Taxi Driver' follows the secretive taxi company Rainbow Taxi and its star driver, Kim Do-gi, as they carry out revenge missions on behalf of victims who have been wronged. The series’ unique premise of a taxi driver delivering justice, combined with its thrilling storytelling, moral catharsis, and dynamic heist-style sequences, captivated audiences and created a massive following.
Season 2 was a massive success, breaking the elusive 20% viewership barrier with ease. According to Nielsen Korea, its final episode recorded 21.8% in the Seoul metropolitan area, 21.0% nationwide, and 8.2% in the 20-49 demographic, with peak ratings reaching 25.6%—the highest for any SBS miniseries in 2023. The series also dominated international markets, ranking No. 1 in 16 countries within just 10 days of its premiere, proving its global appeal.
The show’s explosive success can be attributed to the growing chemistry among Rainbow Taxi’s core team, Lee Je-hoon’s versatile portrayal of various personas, and tightly woven storytelling.
Season 3 will bring back all key cast members, heightening anticipation among fans. Lee Je-hoon returns as Kim Do-gi, the charismatic “God-Do-gi” who became a cultural phenomenon. Joining him are Kim Eui-sung as the dependable CEO of Rainbow Taxi, Jang Sung-cheol; Pyo Ye-jin as the genius hacker Go-eun, who has become a fan-favorite character; and Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram as the engineering duo who add humor and depth to the series.
During the finale of Season 2, Lee Je-hoon expressed his hopes for another season, saying, “I’d love to write more stories with this family.” The cast’s close-knit, family-like dynamic is expected to shine even brighter in Season 3.
On the production side, writer Oh Sang-ho, known as the “father of the Taxi Driver universe,” will lead the project, while Kang Bo-seung, co-director of 'Dr. Romantic 3', joins as the director to enhance the series’ creative vision. The production team aims to retain the strengths of the previous seasons while deepening the show’s world-building and maturity.
“We are committed to repaying viewers’ overwhelming love for the previous seasons by delivering the best possible experience,” the team said. “With Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, and Bae Yoo-ram back together, the team is working in perfect harmony to create a thrilling new season.”
They added, “We promise to deliver the same explosive fun and cathartic satisfaction that earned 'Taxi Driver' its reputation as the pinnacle of Korean caper dramas.”
Having set a new standard for seasonal dramas in Korea, 'Taxi Driver' is poised to take another leap forward with Season 3. Fans are eager to see how the series will once again push its storytelling and scale to new heights, keeping audiences on the edge of their seats.
The exact broadcast schedule for 'Taxi Driver 3' will be announced at a later date.
