Starting with its debut in Indonesia on February 5, the film will open in North America on February 14, Singapore and Malaysia on February 20, the Philippines on February 26, and Vietnam on February 28. Additional releases are planned in Japan, Taiwan, Cambodia, Thailand, South America, and Russia.

Based on the 2007 Taiwanese film 'Secret', the original movie gained significant attention in Korea, attracting 150,000 moviegoers upon its release in 2008 and becoming the most-watched Taiwanese film in the country at the time.

The Korean version of Secret: Untold Melody tells the story of the fateful romance between Yoo Jun and Jung Ah. While studying abroad, Yoo Jun transfers to a Korean university to undergo wrist treatment. There, he unexpectedly meets Jung Ah in a practice room, sparking a connection that feels destined. However, their meetings are often fleeting, and Jung Ah’s reluctance to even share her contact information leaves their relationship full of missed encounters.

Changes That Set the Korean Version Apart

While the core narrative remains similar to the original, the Korean adaptation features notable differences in character backstories and settings.

Unlike the high school setting of the original, the Korean version places the characters as university students. Yoo Jun, played by Exo's D.O. (Do Kyung-soo), is much more bold in approaching Jung Ah, portrayed by Won Jin-ah, compared to the more passive male lead in the Taiwanese film. Jung Ah’s character also shifts from a frail girl suffering from asthma to a vibrant and healthy young woman.

Director Seo Yoo-min highlighted the updated approach, explaining, “Yoo Jun’s emotional journey reflects modern dynamics. He experiences doubt, disappointment, and even a sense of betrayal before eventually realizing the depth of his love for Jung Ah.”

Moviegoers have shared overwhelmingly positive reactions, praising the film’s ability to balance nostalgia with fresh new elements. Many expressed their satisfaction, with comments such as, “It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good romance film in theaters, and this one didn’t disappoint,” and, “I could feel my romance cells awakening!”

With its blend of heartfelt performances, emotional storytelling, and an updated take on a beloved classic, Secret: Untold Melody is poised to leave a lasting impression both domestically and internationally.
