A Fake Newlywed Plot: The Korean Drama Making Waves as Soon as Its Leads Were Revealed!

SBS confirmed on the 4th that actors Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min have been cast in the upcoming drama 'Would You Marry Me' (working title), set to air in the second half of 2025.

'Would You Marry Me' is a romantic comedy survival series following a man and a woman who enter into a fake marriage for 90 days to win a luxurious newlywed home. Choi Woo-shik will take on the role of Kim Uju, the only son of the prestigious 80-year-old Korean bakery Myeongsundang and a rising marketing team leader. A perfectionist with a narcissistic streak, Kim Uju is determined to lead the family business after his father’s death. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes entangled with Yoo Merry, a designer from a partner company, and finds himself reluctantly playing the role of a fake husband.

Choi Woo-shik, known for his versatility, has captivated global audiences with roles in dramas like 'Our Beloved Summer' and 'Murder DIEary' and the Oscar-winning film 'Parasite'. His relatable performances and emotional depth have made him a standout across genres. Jung So-min will play Yoo Merry, an eccentric and passionate designer desperate to secure the grand prize—a luxurious townhouse given to newlyweds. After facing a series of life crises, including a broken engagement due to her fiancé’s infidelity and falling victim to a rental scam, Merry finds herself in a desperate situation. When she wins the newlywed home raffle after her engagement falls apart, she turns to a man named Kim Uju (who coincidentally shares her ex-fiancé’s name) and proposes a fake marriage to save the house.

Jung So-min, beloved by fans for her performances in dramas such as 'Mom’s Friend’s Son', 'Alchemy of Souls', and 'Because This Is My First Life', has demonstrated her range across genres. Her role in 'Love Next Door' particularly stood out, as her on-screen chemistry and heart-fluttering romance earned her the title of a true rom-com queen.
