IVE’s An Yujin Opens Up About the ‘Perfect Idol’ Label

At the press conference for IVE’s third mini-album IVE EMPATHY on February 3 at Conrad Seoul in Yeouido, the group shared their candid thoughts on being called “perfect idols.”

IVE EMPATHY, their first comeback in nine months since IVE SWITCH, features six tracks, including the double title tracks Rebel Heart and ATTITUDE, along with Flu, You Wanna Cry, Thank U, and TKO.

When asked about the “perfect idol” label, Jang Wonyoung expressed gratitude. “We’re truly thankful for that title. It motivates us and gives us strength to take on new challenges,” she said. “Still, rather than focusing on external perceptions, we’re trying to move forward with our own vision. I think people appreciate us for staying true to ourselves, and I’m grateful for that.”

Member Liz added, “Rather than attaching specific labels, I think the phrase ‘IVE is IVE’ suits us best. It reflects our confidence and individuality, like a motto that represents us.”

Leader An Yujin reflected on how they’ve grown since their debut. “We heard that label early on, and at the time, I felt we had a long way to go. I said that I wanted us to grow into that title, and I believe we’re still in that process,” she admitted.

Looking ahead, she shared her aspirations for the future. “I want us to gain more experience on stage and deliver relaxed, confident performances. I hope we can meet more fans and grow our fanbase even further.”

IVE’s third mini-album IVE EMPATHY will be available across online and offline platforms starting at 6 PM KST on February 3. Fans are eagerly anticipating another chapter of IVE’s journey as they continue to carve their place in K-pop history.
