Hong Sang-soo Impregnates Kim Min-hee, “Skips Only Daughter’s Wedding + Gives ‘0 Won’ Gift” Shocking Allegations Emerge

Hong Sang-soo (64), who has been in a 9-year affair with actress Kim Min-hee (43) and is reportedly expecting a child out of wedlock, is alleged to have missed his only daughter’s wedding.

Hong severed ties with his family after publicly acknowledging his relationship with Kim in 2015. On January 20, a video titled "Kim Min-hee’s Pregnancy: What About Hong Sang-soo’s Wedding Gift to His Daughter?" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Entertainment Behind President Lee Jin-ho(@Behind_Master)'.

In the video, former entertainment journalist-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin-ho revealed, “Director Hong was said to have cherished his only daughter. However, shockingly, he did not attend her wedding, which took place two to three years ago.”

Lee added, “Not only did he skip the wedding, but he also didn’t offer any congratulatory gift or money. A friend of Hong’s wife, who witnessed the situation, criticized him, saying, ‘This is too much.’ However, his wife reportedly accepted it calmly, saying, ‘That’s just the kind of person he is.’”

Lee noted that while the wife appeared outwardly composed, “it’s unimaginable how deeply hurt both she and her daughter must have been, knowing he neither attended the wedding nor gave a gift.”

Regarding rumors that Hong cut off financial support for his daughter’s overseas studies due to his affair, Lee clarified, “Acquaintances say Hong, known for being incredibly frugal, was unlikely to have funded her studies to begin with. It was actually his wife’s mother, the grandmother, who covered all the expenses.” The grandmother, who was very fond of her granddaughter, reportedly paid the full cost of her education.

Lee further revealed that the grandmother passed away in 2017, and Hong’s failure to attend her funeral drew criticism. Earlier, entertainment news outlet Dispatch reported that Kim Min-hee is six months pregnant and expected to give birth this spring. The pregnancy rumors have reignited interest in their relationship, including sightings of the couple on dates and photos from what is believed to be Kim’s early pregnancy.

If the Dispatch report is accurate, Kim would have been in her early pregnancy during her appearance at the 77th Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland last August. At the time, Kim received an acting award for her role in Hong’s film Walk Up. During her acceptance speech, she said, “Director Hong Sang-soo, I love your films so much.”
