Actor Kim Soo-hyun has shared his personal wellness routine, and surprisingly, it’s anything but extravagant.
In a recent video on the YouTube channel 'Esquire Korea' (January 16), Kim responded to a fan question: “You seem to age gracefully. What’s your real secret—skincare routines or face masks?” His answer? Water. “I try to drink plenty of water,” he said, adding with a laugh, “I try not to gain weight, but I love eating, so it’s not easy to manage.”
The Power of Drinking Water
Kim Soo-hyun’s habit of staying hydrated is a simple yet powerful practice for maintaining health. Water supports metabolism and helps vital organs function efficiently. Drinking water first thing in the morning flushes out toxins and improves overall well-being. Water increases the volume of blood and lymph fluids, promotes urine and stool production, and aids in detoxification. Specifically, drinking warm or lukewarm water on an empty stomach in the morning can prevent constipation by stimulating bowel movements. Proper hydration also improves skin elasticity.
Since skin is composed of about 70% water, dehydration can hinder collagen and elastin production, leading to wrinkles. Regular water intake replenishes moisture, boosts blood circulation, and keeps the skin clear and glowing. Additionally, maintaining sufficient hydration helps regulate skin temperature and reduces sebum production, contributing to a healthier complexion.

During winter, people tend to sweat less and feel less thirsty compared to summer, often leading to inadequate water intake. To stay hydrated, it’s important to develop intentional habits, such as using a water bottle marked with time reminders or carrying a bottle wherever you go.

Since some hydration comes from food, it’s a good idea to adjust water intake based on your typical meal portions.
