Set to air on KBS2 later this year.
KBS2’s upcoming drama ‘24-Hour Fitness Club(English Working Title)’, set to air this year, is already creating a buzz.
The show is a growth-oriented romance centered around Do Hyun-joong (played by Lee Jun-young), a tenacious gym owner, who helps his gym members navigate their struggles and transform their lives. The story also follows the romance between Hyun-joong, who overcame a frail start in life through sheer determination and fitness, and Lee Mi-ran (played by Jung Eun-ji), who turns to exercise after facing setbacks in love and life.
The drama is helmed by director Park Joon-soo (‘Gaus Electronics,’ ‘God of Music’) and written by Kim Ji-soo, known for her witty storytelling in ‘Birthcare Center.’
Fans are already thrilled by the casting news, expressing their excitement with comments like how Lee Jun-young is on a roll, how the characters sound amazing, and how this drama feels so exciting. Some fans noted that Jung Eun-ji would have nailed the gym owner role too, while others praised the wholesome chemistry between the leads and the uniqueness of a fitness romance concept.
Jung Eun-ji, known for her impressive physique and dual talent as a singer and actress, will take on the role of Lee Mi-ran. Fans affectionately call her “Jeong Thor” for her strong, toned build. Jung Eun-ji frequently shares workout photos on her Instagram.
Eun-ji’s dedication to fitness extends beyond the screen. In December, she shared health tips on Apink’s YouTube channel, saying, “I’m really into delicious dieting these days.” Her protein-packed diet includes tofu noodles, chicken thighs, and fried eggs, though she’s considering alternatives for sodium-heavy curry sauces.
Co-starring alongside Jung Eun-ji is Lee Jun-young, who last starred in the TVING original ‘Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale’ (May 2023). The romantic comedy follows Shin Jae-rim (Pyo Ye-jin), who decides to become a modern-day Cinderella after facing the harsh realities of life, and her encounter with Moon Cha-min (played by Lee Jun-young), a cynical chaebol prince who doesn’t believe in love.
Reflecting on his role, Lee Jun-young shared, “I’m grateful to the viewers who loved Cha-min. Filming felt like completing an assignment and earning praise. It was a place where I reflected on my shortcomings and grew as an actor.”
With its unique fitness theme, dynamic lead pairing, and creative team, ‘24-Hour Fitness Club’ is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated dramas of the year. Fans are eager to see how Jung Eun-ji and Lee Jun-young’s chemistry plays out in this heartwarming and inspiring story.
