Jo Yu-ri (23), who made a strong impression as the 'pregnant Jun-hee' in Netflix’s ‘Squid Game’ Season 2, has been cast as the lead in the upcoming K-drama ‘Variety.’

On January 7 KST, Sports Chosun reported, citing entertainment industry sources, that Jo Yu-ri will take on the main role in ‘Variety,’ a thriller highlighting the idol industry. The new project is directed by Kim Yong-hoon, known for his work on Netflix’s ‘Mask Girl.’ The series is currently in the casting phase. Speculation had been circulating that the lead cast would include current idol group members.

Jo Yu-ri, who rose to fame through the survival show ‘Produce 48’ and debuted as the main vocalist of the project girl group IZ*ONE, is known for her exceptional singing talent. Her versatility as an idol group member has heightened anticipation for her performance in ‘Variety.’
