Actor Han Do-woo: “I’m Deeply Ashamed and Sorry… I Deeply Reflect on My Wrongdoings”
Actor Han Do-woo has publicly addressed his past marijuana use, nine days after the incident was reported.
On December 31, Han shared a handwritten letter on his personal social media, stating, “As news about my actions recently became public, I caused great disappointment and concern to many people. When the article was first released, I was overwhelmed with fear and didn’t know how to address it.”
He continued, “Knowing how much your trust and support mean, it deeply pained and embarrassed me to let you down. It took time to muster the courage to sincerely apologize.”
Acknowledging his wrongdoing, Han admitted, “In December 2020, I made a foolish and immature decision, which led to an investigation by the police and ultimately a deferred indictment from the prosecution.”
He explained the circumstances, saying, “At the time, I tried to rationalize my actions under the guise of curiosity, but through the investigation, I realized the gravity of my mistake. Since then, I’ve lived with deep regret and reflection.”
Han took full responsibility for his actions, writing, “Every action I took in the past was my own fault, without excuse. Thinking about how much disappointment and hurt my poor decisions have caused you weighs heavily on me. My shortcomings remain my biggest regret to this day.”
He promised to reflect on his actions and lead a more conscientious life, saying, “I will make choices that I won’t be ashamed of in the future and ensure such incidents never happen again. I sincerely apologize to my fellow actors, production staff, and former agency colleagues. I regret causing harm to the projects I was part of and placing unnecessary burdens on those around me due to my actions.”
Concluding his letter, Han added, “To everyone experiencing sadness due to the recent heavy news, I extend my deepest condolences. Once again, I offer my sincerest apologies to all who believed in and supported me.”
Earlier, on December 23, reports surfaced revealing Han’s marijuana use in December 2020. The reports also highlighted that he continued his career without taking time for self-reflection after receiving a deferred indictment, sparking public backlash.
Han Do-woo debuted in 2014 with the drama Righteous Love and gained recognition for his role as Nam Do-hoon in Chief Detective 1958 as well as his earlier roles in Make a Woman Cry and Our Gap-soon.
