'2024 KBS Drama Awards' Finally Announces Its Lineup of Grand Prize Nominees

"The ‘2024 KBS Drama Awards’ will crown the ultimate winner to close out 2024. On December 26, KBS announced the nominees for the Grand Prize ahead of the awards ceremony, which will air on December 31 at 7 PM."

"The ‘2024 KBS Drama Awards’ celebrates a year of diverse dramas, ranging from miniseries and weekend dramas to daily dramas and one-act plays (Drama Specials), delivering laughter and heartfelt moments to viewers. It’s a chance to look back on the achievements of the works and actors that brightened living rooms throughout the year.

The live broadcast will be hosted by entertainer Jang Sung-kyu, actress Seohyun, and actor Moon Sang-min.

This year, KBS captivated audiences with a lineup of dramas, starting with the Monday-Tuesday drama The Tale of Illusions on January 2, and concluding with the Wednesday-Thursday drama Suspicious Girl, which premiered on December 18. KBS stood out with its unique charm, offering daily and weekend dramas that touched viewers' hearts, and innovative one-act plays that brought freshness to the screen. Notably, after a two-year hiatus, KBS also revived its Wednesday-Thursday drama slot, delivering a richer and more diverse array of content.

Renowned veteran actor Lee Soon-jae, the star of Dog Talk, has been named among the nominees, showcasing his mastery in seamlessly transitioning between comedic and serious performances that captivated viewers' emotions. Joining him are Ji Hyun-woo and Lim Soo-hyang from the heartwarming weekend drama Beauty and Mr. Romantic, as well as Kim Jung-hyun and Park Ji-young from Iron Family, further strengthening the star-studded lineup of contenders.

Also nominated is Kim Ha-neul for her powerful performance in Nothing Uncovered, sparking curiosity over whether she will secure her first win in eight years. All eyes are on who will take home the Grand Prize trophy and end 2024 on a high note at the 2024 KBS Drama Awards.

The ceremony promises to be even more vibrant with its exciting lineup of celebratory performances. The opening show, directed by Kinki, a favorite of the MZ generation, will feature 25 dancers delivering a performance symbolizing the release of worries from 2024 and the welcoming of the new year.

Additionally, Kim Da-hyun, who sang A Wonderful Day, the OST for Beauty and Mr. Romantic, and the Yook Joong-wan Band, who performed The Way of the World, the OST for Iron Family, will take the stage to perform beloved KBS drama soundtracks.

To add to the enchantment, Ock Joo-hyun and Kim Sung-sik, leads of the musical Mata Hari, will perform the iconic duet The Prayer, made famous by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion, delivering a moving performance to close out the year with heartfelt melodies.

The 2024 KBS Drama Awards will air live on December 31 at 7 PM on KBS2.
