Hyun Bin Reveals Details About Life After Having Son with ♥ Wife Son Ye-jin

Actor Hyun Bin revealed how much his life has changed since marrying Son Ye-jin and having a child, expressing deep affection for his family.

During an interview about his new movie Harbin, held at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 19th, Hyun Bin responded to comments from reporters about him seeming brighter and more cheerful after marriage. He said, “Everything has changed. People need to change.”

He also expressed pride in his latest project, saying, “When my child grows up and is old enough to watch Harbin, I want to tell them that their dad played Ahn Jung-geun.”

Set to release on December 24, Harbin portrays the intense pursuits and suspicions between those heading to Harbin in 1909 with a common goal and those chasing them. Playing the role of Ahn Jung-geun, Hyun Bin showcases a range of emotions, including the loneliness of living in an era where Korea lost its sovereignty, anxiety from the independence movement, and a sense of responsibility, as well as impressive action scenes.

Hyun Bin shared his experience of having to return to filming shortly after his son was born, saying, “In that situation, my wife must have felt lonely.” However, he credited Son Ye-jin’s support for helping him complete the project.

“As a fellow actor, she understood how demanding this project was. After it was over, her words, ‘You worked hard, you did well,’ gave me immense strength. She must have struggled too, but the way she expressed her support meant a lot to me,” he said.

Hyun Bin also spoke about wanting to tell his son, who was born just before the start of the film, about his role as Ahn Jung-geun when he is old enough to watch the movie.

When asked if he would also show his son the works he filmed with Son Ye-jin, such as The Negotiation and Crash Landing on You, Hyun Bin laughed and replied, “I’ll show him everything—The Negotiation and Crash Landing on You. But I’ll focus more on showing him his mom’s work.”

On the December 18 episode of tvN’s variety show You Quiz on the Block (also known as You Quiz), Hyun Bin shared that he spends as much time as possible with his son and adjusts his schedule to prioritize him, stating that his son has become the center of his life.

He also revealed that his relationship with Son Ye-jin developed after their drama Crash Landing on You. He explained, “It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when it started. While working on the drama, we had countless conversations, and even after filming ended, we naturally stayed in touch through activities like ad shoots.”

Hyun Bin expressed his support for Son Ye-jin, who has begun working on a new project directed by Park Chan-wook, saying he feels as happy as if it were his own work.

To his son, Hyun Bin shared a heartfelt message: “If you had been born on your due date, I wouldn’t have had the chance to cut the umbilical cord because of my filming schedule. Thank you for coming into this world early enough for me to meet you before my overseas shoot. I hope you grow up healthy and happy, spending every day joyfully with your mom and dad.”
