Afterward, Han So-hee, who continued to adorn herself with various tattoo stickers and piercings, once made a remark that seemed to express regret about the tattoos she had on her upper body.

When she got a piercing sticker, she said, "Why did I endure the pain and get pierced when there's such a great item? It's all an experience. I think it’s good when you want a change of mood."

She also mentioned, "When I’m working, I can just take it off. If a piercing helps in the project I’m working on, I don’t plan on removing it."

◆ Common Tattoos in Daily Life

In fact, tattoos are easily accessible. Semi-permanent procedures, such as eyebrow tattoos, are often done by the general public. Semi-permanent procedures are techniques derived from tattoos, primarily for cosmetic purposes. Pigments are injected into the skin, and the effects last anywhere from 6 months to 2-3 years. One of the advantages of semi-permanent procedures is that they do not wash off with sweat or water. These procedures are mainly applied to areas such as the eyebrows, eyeliner, lips, and hairline. However, semi-permanent procedures should be chosen carefully in some cases.

If you have keloid-prone skin and are sensitive to wounds, it is best to avoid semi-permanent procedures. Keloid skin develops when collagen accumulates excessively in the dermis during the healing process of a wound, causing the scar tissue to grow. The wound does not heal properly, and blood vessels proliferate, causing the scar area to swell over time. The scars can range from small to as large as an egg and are usually red in color.

During the semi-permanent procedure, repeated needle pricks can cause trauma to the skin, which may lead to overgrowth and uneven scars during the healing process. People with allergy-prone skin should also be cautious. Repeated exposure to allergens can cause the irritation to spread throughout the body. If an allergic reaction occurs after an eyebrow tattoo, it is advisable to avoid further procedures.

Many people also turn to scalp tattoos to address hair loss. Scalp tattoos, also known as scalp pigmentation therapy, are used to conceal hair loss without hair transplant surgery. This medical procedure, different from regular tattoos, conceals bald spots or scars without damaging existing hair follicles. However, for patients who can undergo hair loss treatment, it is crucial to be cautious as the procedure could cause side effects that lead to irreversible damage and treatment failure.
