IU Donates 50 Million Won in Celebration of Christmas
Singer IU has extended her warm heart to children battling illnesses.
On December 11, the Korea Pediatric Rare Disease Association announced, "To celebrate Christmas, IU donated 50 million won to children with rare and incurable diseases and their families."
IU's donation will be distributed as gift cards and sent out at the end of the year, aimed at supporting families facing financial difficulties.
This is not IU's first act of generosity this year. In September, she commemorated her 16th debut anniversary with a donation of 250 million won. The funds were allocated to various causes, including the Korea Pediatric Rare Disease Association, a milk delivery program for seniors, Hansarang Village, and Hansarang Infant Care Center.

IU's goodwill shines even brighter given the challenges she has recently faced.
The singer has long been subjected to malicious rumors and comments on online platforms such as Nate Pann, Namuwiki, DC Inside, Theqoo, SoulDresser, Women’s Generation, Ygosu, Instiz, Ilbe Storage, and MLB Park.
Last month, her agency, EDAM Entertainment, took legal action, filing complaints against those responsible for the defamatory posts through a law firm.
The allegations are extensive, ranging from threats, insults, and the spread of false information to defamation, death threats, invasion of privacy, sexual harassment, dissemination of obscene material, and the creation and sharing of deepfake content.

A shocking detail emerged: among the 180 individuals named in the lawsuit, one is reportedly a former middle school classmate of IU. During her middle school years, IU transferred multiple times, attending Gwangjin Middle School, Singok Middle School, and Eonju Middle School. While the specific school the accused individual attended remains unknown, they allegedly targeted IU with repeated plagiarism accusations.
IU’s agency emphasized, “We have pursued criminal charges based on a zero-tolerance principle, as serious illegal actions will not be forgiven under any circumstances.”
