A Korean film tackling the $50 trillion(KRW) cryptocurrency crash that shook the global market is set to hit theaters, already sparking immense interest among audiences. Titled 'Crypto Man,' the movie also marks the final performance of actor Song Jae-rim, who tragically passed away last month.

On December 9, distributor Mooam confirmed the release date of 'Crypto Man' as January 15, 2025, and unveiled a teaser poster featuring the late Song Jae-rim. The poster, with the caption “50 trillion disappeared,” shows Song’s solemn expression, adding to the intrigue. Online, anticipation for the film is palpable, with overwhelming positive reactions reflected in early audience polls: 26 “Want to Watch” votes versus just 3 “Not Interested.”
'Crypto Man' is based on the true story of a cryptocurrency crash that left countless investors devastated. The film delves into the high-risk, high-reward mentality of modern youth, portraying their addiction to speculative investments. It explores the darker side of startup culture through the eyes of a young entrepreneur, shedding light on the emotional toll and harsh realities of financial pursuits.
The late Song Jae-rim stars as Yang Do-hyun, a brilliant entrepreneur and the creator of the fictional cryptocurrency “MOMMY.” According to the filmmakers, “Song Jae-rim’s final performance is his most powerful yet, leaving an unforgettable legacy.” Joining him are a talented ensemble cast, including Ahn Woo-yeon, Min Sung-wook, So Hee-jung, and Cha Jung-won.

Hyun Hae-ri, celebrated for her work on 'Nine Times Fired' (praised at the Cannes International Drama Festival), brings her unique touch to 'Crypto Man.' With extensive experience in investigative reporting, Hyun blends sharp realism with elements of dark comedy to create a thought-provoking narrative.
The production team emphasized the extensive research and legal scrutiny that went into the film, given its basis in an ongoing case with unresolved legal outcomes. “This isn’t just a crime drama—it’s a reflection of the struggles and pain of today’s youth,” they explained. As part of the New Media Content Support Program by the Korea Creative Content Agency, 'Crypto Man' has already garnered significant attention even before its release.
Song Jae-rim in his last social media post, he wrote, “The start of a long journey,” leaving fans and the film industry heartbroken. Through 'Crypto Man,' audiences will witness his final, unforgettable performance.
