Suzy had a conjunctival nevus removed from one of her eyes.
In most cases, it develops later in life.
K-pop singer and actress Suzy recently revealed she underwent surgery. The surgery was to remove a conjunctival nevus, a benign spot that appears on the white part of the eye, known as the sclera.

This condition is caused by an overproduction of melanin cells and is most commonly found in individuals of East Asian descent. While typically harmless, it can sometimes develop into a malignant tumor if left untreated.
A conjunctival nevus manifests as a pigmented spot on the sclera, appearing in colors such as black, light brown, or yellowish tones. Its shape can vary from round to irregular or web-like patterns. Though it does not cause pain or vision loss, its potential for malignancy makes regular monitoring essential.
So when should individual be concerned? Certain changes in a conjunctival nevus may indicate a higher risk of malignancy, including Sudden growth or darkening of the spot, extension toward the cornea, appearance in unusual locations, and development after the age of 40. If any of these symptoms occur, immediate medical attention, including a biopsy and potential removal, is strongly recommended.

The Treatment for conjunctival nevus typically involves minimally invasive options such as laser therapy or chemical peeling, which are quick procedures lasting around 10 minutes and require no downtime. In more complex cases, surgical removal may be necessary, though this option often involves a longer recovery period. Anyone noticing unusual pigmentation on their sclera should consult an ophthalmologist promptly for evaluation and monitoring to ensure proper care.
