On December 2, according to Sports Chosun and Herald Pop, actor Song Kang-ho acknowledged his recent misstep during an interview held at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul. He began by saying, "I feel I need to address this first," and admitted, "I chose the wrong words during an interview. I likely caused discomfort and upset many volleyball fans, and I sincerely apologize."

The controversy stemmed from comments Song made during a press and distributor screening for One Win. At the time, he remarked, "Men's volleyball is also charming, but the uniquely delicate aspects of women's volleyball are fascinating." His use of the word "delicate" (agijagi) drew criticism from many women's volleyball fans, who felt it overlooked the sport's powerful and precise nature, sparking significant debate among fans.

Clarifying his remarks, Song expressed his deep appreciation for volleyball and explained the intent behind his comments. "Volleyball is a sport with a vast spectrum, characterized by its powerful energy and dynamic play. In addition, it features detailed techniques, teamwork, and precise strategic plays, making it endlessly enjoyable. However, as I’ve been doing many interviews, my words were poorly conveyed. I deeply regret this and am truly sorry," he said, bowing once more to emphasize his remorse.

One Win tells the story of a professional women’s volleyball team striving for their first-ever victory. Song Kang-ho plays Kim Woo-jin, a coach whose career has been marked by failures, taking on a role that showcases a fresh transformation in his acting. The film also stars distinctive talents like Park Jung-min and Jang Yoon-ju, adding to its anticipation.

Song Kang-ho highlighted that the movie goes beyond being a simple sports drama, presenting a heartfelt story about life’s small victories. He shared, "As the first film centered on volleyball, the production process was not easy, but through this work, I wanted to convey the meaning of a 'one win' in our lives to the audience."

One Win premieres on December 4, and expectations are high to see how Song Kang-ho’s sincere apology and dedication will resonate with fans, as well as how his new acting challenge will be received.
